Staff Biography 牧者介紹: Rev. Ruth Goh 陳吳妙愛牧師:
My late father and two brothers-in-Christ planted a church in my home. It started as a fellowship group, but the Lord moved so mightily that the church grew. I recalled Sunday School classes were held in our bedrooms and the porch was the sanctuary. We had dug a baptismal pool in the extended living room and I was baptized there at twelve.
I attended a three-month Bible school shortly after high school. After I graduated from it, I came to Canada to study at Western Pentecostal Bible College (now known as Summit Pacific College). I graduated with Bachelor of Religious Education. Thereafter, I went back to my home church in Singapore to serve. I was involved in coordinating curriculum, seminars, taught Sunday School, led Women’s Ministry and Life Groups. Within the Life Group, we organized short-term mission trips to Malaysia and Indonesia. I was also involved in women’s prison and a care center for abused women.
In 2005, I had the privilege to complete my elementary teacher’s license and Master of Education in New Mexico, USA. For my Master’s program, I majored in Instructional Leadership. Subsequently my family immigrated to Canada.
When my family and I first arrived in Canada, I was employed with Vancouver Chinese Baptist and Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church as the children’s pastor prior to joining Burnaby Pacific Grace Church. My husband, George, is currently serving with the children’s ministry and my two adult children, Uriel and Galacia are presently worshipping at BPGC.
As Children’s Pastor, I minister with a committee team, and together we coordinated the bi-weekly Kids Club, children’s Christmas, Easter, and the Year End Carnival outreaches. We are constantly recruiting volunteers to serve a vibrant ministry. I also instituted many initiatives to fulfill the Children’s Ministry core values, such as: creating an atmosphere of hearing from God, prioritize events that are inclusive of parents and the community, spiritually and mentally empowering leaders. When we run the annual Summer Camps, we intentionally enlist the grade 6s to serve as leaders.
The Lord has put a burden in my heart to care for the children the past sixteen years. Prayerfully, through family visitations and other support, we can develop a dynamic family ministry at BPGC. I am always open to new ideas and feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need some parenting tools, guidance, or prayers.
Staff Biography 牧者介紹: Pastor Freeman Lam 林恩諾傳道:
Being born and raised in Vancouver, I am passionate about exploring what God’s image looks like in the lives of those who are different from me. It is no wonder that I have a deep love for language, as each language allows us to see and experience the world, our life, and God in different ways. I have come to experience this by continuously learning how to thoughtfully navigate dialogue, especially at the intersection of faith, culture, and community. As a Chinese–Canadian–Christian, the journey of following Jesus has had its particular challenges. As a result, I have come to value the process of deconstruction and reconstruction, where through patiently and persistently seeking God for who He is, our identity in Jesus Christ becomes more deeply and richly rooted in His character, truth, and way. Through studying a Bachelors of Early Childhood Education from Capilano University and Masters of Theological Studies from Regent College, these have nurtured a passion for cultivating a charitable, culturally nuanced, biblically informed, integrated, and Christ-centered posture towards life. Within the context of Burnaby Pacific Grace MB Church, I hope to walk with those who call this community home. I am keen on nurturing a legacy of endeavouring to disciple and be discipled in our collective and individual commitments to Christ, to navigate the challenges and needs of a multi-generational, multi-cultural, and local context, and to treasure the gifts that we all bring as being the hands and feet of Jesus for our neighbours.
